What is food poisoning?

Food poisoning is an illness caused by consuming contaminated food, especially when eaten raw. In most cases, it is caused by food contaminated with bacteria such as salmonella, E. coli, or virus (such as norovirus).

What are the symptoms?

Symptoms of food poisoning may range from mild to severe depending on the germ consumed. The most common symptoms would be:

  • Stomach discomfort

  • Nausea

  • Diarrhea
  • Fever

It is advised to see a doctor when food poisoning symptoms progressed such as:

Causes of food poisoning
